How do TOBS soaps compare?

How do TOBS soaps stack up performance wise? I'm thinking of trying Jermyn Street sometime. I'm a bit spoiled with some top performers in my den right now like AOS and MWF.

TOBS Jermyn Street soap is fantastic. I get wonderful slick and protective lather from it and the scent is one of my favorites.

Here is an example of the lather I get with Jermyn Street.

I used a puck of TOBS Lavender soap a while back and it was quite good. Performance-wise it wasn't as good as a D R Harris soap, but the scent was more enjoyable than Harris' Lavender.

How much cream do you use to get that much lather?

haven't tried AOS, but I find that my Eton College cream, and Sandlewood stick are thicker, and richer in an indescribable way... heavier. It’s easy to use too little water and allow it to really thicken up. A little bit of the TOBS goes a long way. Eton is my favorite, and go to.

MWF (Mitchel's wool fat I assume, if it's something different, disregard) is good, a touch slicker, with less cushion. the only way it rates lower for me is that is has a bit of the wet dog aroma to it. I've very particular about fragrances I wear or want to smell, and when I use either TOBS, I don't wear cologne. their fragrance is strong enough for me to forgo any other scents. and my aftershave is cold water if I've irritated myself on that shave.

I remember cvac (right?) being very positive about it in his British soap review thread.

A nice scent, but it gets old quickly. If I grab it for a second shave in a row, my nose goes "this again?"

The Lather Maestro
xillion, please, brother, you're killing me.

Will you please, PLEASE, PUHLEEZE stop posting photos of that Jermyn Street lather? I'm trying to stay on sabbatical until the end of the year, and every time you post that, I cry a little. :crying:

I think that series of shots should win the award for ALL-TIME greatest lather photo shoot in B&B history. Who's with me?
