How do I share Images ?

What are the best ways to host my photos so others can see them? I'm talking about large high mb content. Simple hosting? Create a website? What size should I limit data? Do you gents password protect the site? I can see already the data content needs to be BIG.

How are you sharing your pics with others?

I have a paid Smugmug account. Its intent is hosting family pictures for all of my friends and family to see/download at their own ease. Since I have unlimited space, I use it to host pictures here too.

There are some services like Photobucket and Flickr that are free. You can probably use the gallery here too, but I'm not sure what size restrictions are.

Lots of free photo hosting sites out there. Flickr was just redone to where every user gets 1 TB of storage for free, so that's about the best deal going as far as storage capability for free. So you could put full resolution photos on there if you wanted. There are other high quality sites like 500px and Zenfolio. Depends on your pocketbook and what you need the site for. I have a Smugmug Power site (with a domain thru Go Daddy) like Edcculus, although I limit my size I upload to my gallery photos to around 1200x1200 pixels and sharpen for that size any more. I keep a separate unlisted gallery for the full resolution originals. I chose the Power level as it lets me customize my site to my preferences. It's a little pricey, but I've been using it for several years and kind of hate to have to move and reorganize to another site.

You can upload direct to the gallery here, but I think it resizes your photo if it's above the max size.

I use Flickr! (not excited, that's just how you spell it...Flickr!)

It's super convenient and easy. I have a smartphone so I have the Flickr! app. I take 100% of all my photos with my phone. I just snap a photo & upload it through the app.

When I'm on B&B and want to use a photo I go to the website (which is bookmarked and always signed in) click on the photo, click on the share button, and best part is......one of the share options is "Grab the HTML/BBCode"

Then it's just a simple copy/past in a thread here and done.

I can see eventually running out of space, but with 1TB that could be quite a long time!
