What's new

how 11 stitches lead me to my best shave to date

im not going to bore you with the back story, but i recently ended up with 11 stitches on the index finger of my non-dominate hand, i had planned on shaving that night, but moving the finger much at all stung a bit, so i held off until a few min ago.

i was finally tired of the scruff (all i can grow in a week) being itchy an unappealing, so i showered, use proraso green preshave, and grabbed my tube of proraso red shave cream, a though occured to me. my brain said "hey, dummy, dont let your brush dry much (off brand boar hair, i like it very much) just use the water in there, worst case scenario, you need more product. best case, you dont spend as much time building a lather.

boom, mucho foam that stuck together very well.

grabbed my gilette adjustable that was gifted to my by my uncle and threw in the best blade i have, which oddly enough, is a cheapo from a grocery store branded techniq. and opend that thing up to 9.

my cheeks went flawlessly on the first pass, i left a little more than usual on my chin, and my neck cleaned up fast, which is new. on the second pass i had a weeper on my chin, but two passes and most of my face is near BBS and my neck is no better or worse than usual.

for anyone wondering, old spice after

what i learned:

do not be afraid to try cheap blades

sometimes, more water is a very good thing

open up that guard once in awhile(if you have an adjustable), sometimes you will be impressed

A week's rest for your face doesn't hurt, either ;)

Glad to hear of your triumphant return and that your finger is mending.
