Do some shaving soaps only work with warm or hot water?
I usually use cold water for shaving, but this week I've been using Arran Aromatics Bay Citrus soap and had problems getting a decent lather with it. I top up the bowl with water, let it sit while i'm in the shower and then drain it and load the brush, but with the cold water it was forming a weak, bubbly lather. Then I tired the same routine but soaking it with hot water instead, the difference was huge, lots of nice creamy thick lather.
I haven't had this with other soaps (Edwin Jagger, Proraso, MamaBear, also La Toja and Palmolive sticks) they work just as well with cold water as with hot.
What is your experience? are there soaps that only work well with hot ( or cold) water?
