History of the Bialetti Moka Express (INeedCoffee)

Thought some might enjoy this article: The Story of the Bialetti Moka Express by Myron Joshua
Its an interesting read that also touches on its development in the context of Italian Fascism.

The above article was adapted from more detailed one titled: The Romance of Caffeine and Aluminum by Jeffrey T. Schnapp (PDF).
The later one gets more into the history of European coffee, and the Italian government's promotion of Aluminum in pre/post WW-II among other things. If you are only interested in a quick read about the Moka pot, the first link would probably do, but there are additional pictures and information in the PDF link.

I read the longer article. The part about steam engines was especially cool.

It's possible to just glaze over the philosophy and still enjoy the rest of the article. Pretty cool stuff, though there seems to be something even more interesting for those that can handle words like Neoplatonic sense of truths, opaque, or adumbrate. The abundant footnotes were too scary to even look at. I shall surcease to adumbrate further on these opaque Neoplatonic sense of truths and go contemplate my Moka Express.
