The jumbo is closer in size to a real P51. Get that one, if you have to. (Get a hero 100 if you can. Get a Parker 51, if at all possible.)

BrianW hates the jumbo even more cause its bigger?

I knew I would hear that at least once

Thanks guys. I have a hand full of the 616's and I think 4 out of the original 9 or 10 turned out ok after pulling them apart and doing a little cleaning. I was looking for a pen that would hold more ink so I didn't have to fill it up so much when grading papers or writing reports and didn't cost an arm and/or a leg...

If you want ink volume, there is a one word answer. Eyedropper! Seriously, get a 78g and eyedropper it. You will get tired of the color before you run out of ink.

My apologies for being cryptic. Yes Pilot 78g. Inexpensive, yet very nice starter pen. A bit lightweight, that's not a deal breaker. When eyedroppered holds a lot of ink. For grading papers, margin notes, etc. the B (which only comes as a stub) would stand out nicely.

Cool, thanks guys. I have a few Esterbrooks that I like well enough I just find myself refilling pens every other day. While I don't hate the chore or color selection I don't have time so I end up back with the G2 and a sore hand.

Where is the best place to find one? I saw a few on the bay for around $10. I am not overly impressed with the look but I am kind of interested in the B/I nib...

Any other recommendations for under $30 or so? heck maybe Ill try to trade for one over on the BST.

I picked up a few 78Gs from Todd at isellpens.com.

Another thought would be a Kaweco Sport. I am pretty sure they are in the $30 range, and they can be converted to eyedropper too with just some silicone grease. And, the Kaweco nibs are very smooth! I had one eyedropper filled for 2-3 months, wrote every time I picked it up, never gave me a problem.

The Pilot 78G can be had for under $10 shipped from overseas in the broad nib.

Don't waste your money on the Heros - you're much better off with the Pilot.
