Have any of you guys tried one of the new Henckels straight razors? I was looking at some online and was wondering as to what the quality was of these.
That's a Vintage, not a new one. Congrats, I wanted that one, watched it @ ~$15 for a few days but decided that I had too many razors to get in a fight over a pretty one I was sure I'd see B&B competition over, so I took it off my watch so it wasn't tempting me. What did you get it for?
As to your question. Henckels are nice razors. I haven't found solingen steel that isn't a good shaver, but in my opinion the Older (19th Century) stuff is the best and of the more recent stuff, the thinner the grind, the better. Henckels made a lot of grinds, some are near as thin as WonderEdges (best "newish" Solingen razor I have used), but they vary. None of them are bad razors though, and that one is certainly pretty with the covered tang and all.
