Helping a friend out, am I doing alright?

So after reading about Gillette deploying the shrink ray on cartridges, a friend of mine on Consumerist decided to consider DE shaving. Since she knows I DE shave, she asked me about taking it up, so I sent her over here to B&B, but also decided to send her some razors so that she could try them out and choose the ones she wants to keep and send the other back to me. I have narrowed the razors I am going to send her to these:

I am also sending her 10 Derby's, 10 Bluebirds, 10 Red Persona's and 5 Green label Gillette 7 O'clocks. I am asking her for $6 for the blades, which is about what I paid, and told her if she likes all the razors, she can have all 6 for $99.99. Am I doing right by her?

The price is more than fair for all 6 but you can probably skip the Fatboy and the Barber Pole Merkur and lower the price accordingly.

If I recall the breakdown I gave her, the two Super Speeds(un-dated 50's style and A1 flair tip) are $7 each, the M4 Slim is $15, the G3 Fatboy is $20,the 12c is $40 and the K1 Ladies is $15.
I'm letting her try before she buys, so she may not like either the FB or 12c, and not choose them. She asked me for a price if she decided to keep them all, which is how I arrived at $99.99(Earl Scheib corrupted me). IIRC, she said she talked to someone on here who leg shaves, and she uses a 11c, and the closest I have and sadly don't use is the 12c. There's also a chance her HWMO(He Who Must Obey) might try the razors out and keep them for himself. It's the least I can do to help spread the joy of wet shaving.

I'd say the price you offered is more than fair. The FatBoy alone might fetch that much on eBay. It is a very generous offer, especially as you are letting her try before committing to it. Nice work!

This is a nice offer, and very generous on your part.

You can never be faulted for doing something nice for someone, and in so doing something nice will come your way. :wink2: :001_smile

That really is a great deal for a beautiful collection of DE's.

I think it would be great to bring more women into DE shaving, but the women who I've mentioned it to all balk at the idea of taking the time I do on my face (15-20min) or even trying multiple passes. Does anyone know if DE leg shaving takes as much longer for women as DE face shaving does for men? Are any women satisfied with a one-pass DE leg shave?

I will admit to shaving PART of my legs when trying out new razors, as I have greater control and they are less sensitive. Even dry, I can usually get BBS doing a WTG and then a ATG. I'm sure if my legs weren't so hairy to begin with, since leg hair is finer and more sparse, with a nice lather, you could maintain with an ATG one pass. I will have to wait for my friend to move before she starts shaving. She has also decided she doesn't like the Merkur, but does like the "pretty blue one".

Even if she only keeps the "pretty blue one" and her guy only keeps
the " pretty fat one", they will be a happy couple.

The world one or two shavers at a time....LOL
