Help with purchase!

Hi everyone, I hope you are all doing fine.

I want to buy a few new items and I would like your input. If any of you used them or know something about them please let me know.

1) Omega Boar Brush 11126
2) Simpsons Beaufort B1
3) Proraso shaving cream/Shaving soap (I hear there isn't much difference between these two products)
4) TOBS shaving cream (any proposals on which scent is the best?)
5) Proraso shave cut healing gel
6) Jack Dean aftershave Balm
7) Proraso Aftershave Balm with Aloe and Vitamin C and Proraso liquid cream aftershave balm green tea and oat.

Thank you in advance . :)

They look like a nice bunch of items so why don't you buy them all :wink2:? I have three Simpsons brushes and I like them all, just teh Beaufort is not one of them, perhaps a future buy? The other item on your list I know is TOBS shaving cream. I tried the Jermyn Street one, which is great, and have a few stored for use. Which scent is best is so much YMMV that I can't possibly comment. Just try them out? That will be a huge pleasure!

Well I may be able to help on a few of them :thumbup1:
The Proraso cream is by far one of the best budget creams out there. But don't think because it's "budget" that it's poor quality. It's the staple of many a BnBer's!
The TOBS I can personally recommend the Eton College, Sandlewood, and Almond. All very different scents, but all very good.
And the proraso aftershave balm is also another very good budget aftershave. (see comment above about budget LOL)

The proraso cream/soap. Most recommend the soap. I prefer creams over soaps due to ease of lather, but most will say you get more in the soaps. I haven't tried enough soaps to verify that though. What kind of soap do you want to get? They have Proraso Red (Sandalwood (one of my favorites)), Green (the classic menthol cream) and the newly released blue (Aloe and vitamin E I think). I have only tried the red and green. I have never really had a bad shave with proraso products

Hooray for new things to try! I'm a big fan of the tubs of Proraso. It's really more of a Croap than anything. I have a tub of the Red (sandalwood) and the White (oatmeal). They both are great latherers, I love the scent of the Red. The green will give you a little different scent and different feeling because of the menthol. I don't like the kick so I use Red the most often.

For brushes either Omega or Semogue make relatively inexpensive boars. If you're switching from a badger try the Omega Mighty Midget, it's a blend of badger and boar. I got one a few weeks ago for $13 from west coast shaving and I use it every other day now. As for AS the only thing I can recommend is Weleda ASB as thats all I've bought. Most days I do a home made mix of witch hazel and glycerine and call it good. Hope this helps a little!

Sounds like you've got a good selection there.
The Proraso products are wonderful. Nice on a chilly morning. The menthol has a brisk feel to it.

It's been many years since I've used TOBS but when I did, I recall using Avacado and Eton College.
Both were nice creams, but I didn't like the scent of Avacado.

Good luck and enjoy!

I got some TOBS Mr. Taylor cream today, I gave my fiancé a smell, and it led to some immediate loving. I say go with Mr. Taylor's scent

With the TOBS, you can't go wrong with either lavender, rose, avocado or Shave Shop. I enjoy all of those very much so.

Hey, thanks for the info. I will buy the Proraso but probably the green onw cause I already use the Pre-shave proraso cream which is great. I didn't know the read one was sandalwood though. thanks

I suggest you get a badger brush. I like them better. You can't go wrong with Proraso. Any of the three are in my rotation. I don't think you would need the shave cut healing gel. Just pick up some Dickinson Witch Hazel or for a more serious nick get an alum stick from razorock. As for the TOBS, I love the Jermyn St.
Good luck with your haul!
