Yeah, that's definitely a Shovelhead not a 1912. I've definitely gotten them with the shorter ornate handles in the little square tins, but this looks like one of the longer ones. Still I wouldn't say that it's highly unlikely that it came that way originally.
1924 model GEM (or Ever Ready). You would have to look inside the head on the blade plate to tell which as that is where they are marked.
I'm not sure if they came with that 1912 stye chain handle or not so it "might" be a mismatch.
