What's new

Help? need a good lavender soap.

I am fairly new to soap. Started out with it when I first started shaving, thought it took too much time and moved on to cream.
Now that I prefer soap to cream I am looking for a good lavender soap. Any help would be greatly appreciated. What I was searching for was a great soap with a scent similar to that of aos lavender. Just not a fan of aos pricing..its ludicrous at best. But anyway what would be some other recomendation from yous guys. Something not hard to get and worth every penny.. thanks so much in advance...

Mystic Waters wild lavender, mikes natural soap Hungarian lavender, or any of the RazoRock lavenders would fit the bill.

Castle Forbes Lavender.

I know it's generally considered to be a cream and not a soap, but given it's consistency I'd call it a softer soft soap.

I've tried many lavender scented soaps and creams, including the artisan soaps made by some new companies. In my opinion, nothing compares to Castle Forbes Lavender cream -- truly a cream not a soap, but a hard cream and one that lasts as long as many soaps. I've tried to find another that is as aromatic and as fully lathering as Castle Forbes, but nothing really compares to it. And although it may seem pricey, it will likely last you a year -- even if used daily.

Wow, thanks for all the fast and great responses. I have tried rr king louis, and I have had an order in with mike's for a while, he is a little backed up right now so it hasen't arrived yet. So I will wait on that.. But now you buys have my interest peaked with the castle forbes, anyone else have thoughts on the castle forbes?

RazoRock King Louis
RazoRock Chianti Lavendar
RazoRock King of The Castle

All have been outstanding for me, and have a true herbal lavender scent (similar to AOS). My favorite out of the lot is King Louis because of the superior post shave feel and slickness.

I agree with this completely, I was hoping for something a bit harder, is the king of the castle the same scent exactly?.. What about the performance, is it the same as king louis?

D.r. Harris is my favorite! Can't believe how much it smells even after three months in the bowl.
I will have to try this as well as this is what I am looking for....is the cushion good.. is it slick...

what about tobs.. should I stock up on that before they run out of stock

Harris edges out Mike's Hungarian Lavender for me, but I don't think you can go wrong with either. I have both. If you're looking for a good soap without tallow, check out SRD Lavender. I haven't gotten to my sample of the lavender yet, but SRD soaps, in general, are my second favorite soap after Harris. I tried a small tub of CF, but didn't replace it when gone. The scent was a bit too sharp for me, plus I like a harder soap.

The KoTC isn't the exact same scent, but its in the same "scent family". I think if you like AOS and King Louis, then you will also enjoy KoTC. KoTC is a sharper, truer lavender. King Louis is a softer less pungent lavender scent. The hard soap version isn't very hard, its quite soft despite being advertised as a hard soap. It appears that the KoTC soaps are made by TFS, who make outstanding soaps.

All 3 are in what I could consider "top tier" shaving soaps, I'm happy with the performance of all of them. King Louis is packed with ingredients like lanolin, castor oil, and other oils which make for more moisturizing, and better post shave feel.

I can't believe no one has suggested Martin de Candre yet. It's a medicinal lavender, just like Noxema, but it's an excellent soap.

+1. If it was easy to get and not as expensive, I'd stock it. Some of the best lather I've created. Goes great with Myrsol Agua Balsamica AS too.

This is already my favorite soap, and in permanant rotation, I also have the fougere, which is not bad but still cannot touch the combination of the lavender, rosemary, and mint. I do not think it is madicinal at all.... very pleasent...but I was looking for a stand alone lavender. The scent just brings back memories for me.
