Can't go wrong with either a SOC boar or 2 band. Also the 620 really good for face lathering. There's a lot of love for the 830 and 1305,actually I'm thinking of getting a 1305 to keep my other Semogues company.
The 830 is a bit of a better face latherer at least to me because the knot is slightly larger. As others have said, you cannot go wrong with a 620, 830, 1800, SOC Boar or SOC Badger.
If you want something for bowl & face lathering, tough to go wrong with the 830. I love the Red/Clear handle combo and the 55mm loft on that knot is perfect for dual-use. I guess it comes down to personal preference on wood vs. acrylic handle.
Just my opinion, but if we're talking boar brushes, I'd try to stick with something around the 55mm loft if you want a brush good for bowl & face. The 50mm loft boars work well too, but I think their true "calling" is face lathering.
I have a 620, 1305, and a new SOC. SOC is still breaking in. Loving the 1305 on the hole. All are fantastic. I may never go back to badger except for travel due to quicker drying time.
another vote for the 830 and 1305! just used the 830 this morning with cella...several swirls on the croap then a few swirls in the bowl to get it started, then face latering to complete, worked beautifully
I have to agree with the 830! I love mine for face lathering. It is a bit bigger and makes a wonderful lather. Although, I do also love my 620! Hell, get two! They are inexpensive enough.
I've got the whole current line of Semogue boars, several badgers as well and some of the LE's and I don't have one bad brush among the lot, they are all great quality made brushes.
They all handle creams and soaps without any problem (as all my brushes) and they don't care if I bowl- or face lather, it is simply a question of a little tweaking of technique depending on the loft height and/or knot size.
Whatever model you choose, it will be able to accommodate you.
That said; I love the SOC 2-band. It is my favourite brush - actually my favourite brushes, as I got both the cherry and the ash handle version
You got some great advice. The Semogue brand does not disappoint. It is the "best bang for your buck" brush. My very 1st quality brush was the 620. I love it a lot that I got another the Semogue SOC cherry handle. The Semogue brushes make soaps and creams scream "uncle". It is a lather machine.

Adam if you'd like I have an 1800 you're more than welcome to borrow and try out. Just PM me. To me as far as boars go, it and the SOC Boar are the two most perfect boar brushes ever created.
