Hello all, I've been lurking here for a year or so and I didn't have the time to join another forum, however recently lets say my work schedule has changed so I do have some spare time to sit and write. I've been wet shaving for five years, however I've been using a brush and soap for at least 15 years (I never did like that stuff in the can). I wanted to get a straight razor 10 years ago but my barber talked me out of it. So about 5 years ago I decided to try a DE razor (Merkur Barber Pole) and haven't used one of them plastic things since. I've read some of posts and have learned a few things from you guys so hopefully I can return the favor and share some of my "opinions"/ experiences with this activity that we share...

Don't really understand why you're barber would have talked you out of a straight razor, but there is plenty of useful information of in the straight razor section if you are still interested. I love mine since I have started and use both (DE and straight).

One small point, though. If you have been using a brush and soap for at least 15 years, you have been "wet shaving" for at least 15 years, too.

I was a brush and soap guy as well for a long time before getting fed up with the price of cartridges.
