What's new

Hello from a newcomer

Hey folks, nubie here.

Been wetshaving on and off for many years. Never much of an equipment collector but currently have a few items including Merkur and Jagger razors, a nice, tight boar brush and a Simsons Duke (and a brush I found in the back of the linen closet last year that’s so old I have no idea what it is). We keep a city place in Murray Hill so I’m spoiled by the Pasteur Pharmacy.

Gotta say this board is great—everyone’s polite and informative—and the layout here is perfect for a newcomer finding his way around and lurking. Kudos to all.

3 things I picked up from you guys already.

1. Proraso: Absolutely amazing! In addition to that clean feel and smell it’s medicinal. I’ve suffered from winter dryness/redness on the sides and bridge of my nose for 20 years and settled on Eucerin-like creams to help. No more! Proraso, post-shave, cleared up the soreness from Day 1 and works way better than anything else I’ve tried.

2. Personna Meds: Nice blades guys. Picked up a hundred. Very sharp but very smooth. How they do that…?

3. Hanging out on boards like this makes you buy stuff you don’t need! You’d be amazed what it’s done for my cigar stash, and collections of guitars and watches. The misses is always very impressed with my addictions…

Hi Ron, welcome to B&B!

Glad to hear that you were able to pick up a few tips from the wisdom of the hive. I'm definitely with you on the Proraso, never tried a Lab so I can't comment there, and as to "hanging out here makes you buy stuff you dont need", well...that kinda depends on your definition of need, doesn't it?!

For me, the money spent is more than compensated by both the improvement in my shaves and the cameraderie and friends that I've found here. A tiny price to pay for such wisdom, friendship, and improvement in lifestyle!

If you get a chance, head over to our Hall of Fame and tell us a bit more about yourself. Enjoy your time here, and happy shaving!!

Welcome, Ron. Have you popped into the Brown Leaf yet? That is our sub-forum for cigars and pipe tobacco. Oh, and come see us in the Nib. Don't worry, it is not dangerous

much :001_smile

Welcome aboard!

I get to Pasteur's when when we visit our son in NYC and it certainly has earned its reputation as The Crack House for shavers :biggrin1:

"A crackhouse for shavers" should be Pasteur Pharmacy's marketing slogan. I work in the area and everytime I walk by the place it draws you in like bees to honey.
