What's new

Hello, and thanks!

Greetings, everyone! Just wanted to say hello and thanks for this tremendous resource. As a new wet shaver, I'm incredibly grateful for (though occasionally overwhelmed by) the incredible amount of information and wisdom accumulated here. Looking forward to participating in the community and contributing where I can.

I'm about six months into this new obsession. Henson AL13+ was my point of entry. Once I got proficient with that, I picked up a Razorock GC 0.68 so I could experience a heavier razor and a more traditional head geometry. I've been restraining myself from going wild with experimentation, and so far I've been reasonably disciplined, sticking with a couple of soaps/creams (Stirling and good ol' Barbasol), a decent drugstore aftershave (Nivea), alum block, and a handful of blades (Bic Chrome Platinum is my favorite so far). I'm finding that patience and technique seem to be 90% of getting a good shave. But I understand the obsessive drive to find the magic combination of hardware and software that will lead to the nirvana of BBS. I may never find it, but the process is fun. Can't believe all the years (and money) I wasted on cartridge shaving. Now I have to make up for decades of lost time!

Thanks again, and have a great day!

Welcome, and BINGO! You nailed it, patience and technique are paramount.

Looks like you locked yourself down a bit in the beginning, which I strongly advocate, but now that you have developed consistent technique you can effectively start evaluating new gear as the spirit moves you. It's crazy how I went from shaving with the same stuff every do to my crazy shave den after finding this circus!

Still interesting after all these years.
