Have I screwed up a blade?

How do you figure out if you've messed up a knife blade, using a stone? Is there a point where it is beyond repair? How can you tell? And what is the best way to fix it?

Just hone it again. (Or give it to someone else to do, if you don't trust yourself)

It's hard to really screw up a blade on a stone. Power tools, on the other hand...

Aside from breaking half the blade off, not really much you can screw up on a stone. most broken tips can be fixed easily, bevels can be reset. Its not hard just takes time.
