My EMS group buy injectors arrived yesterday (thanks!). I have a hard time loading blades with these and Pella's. Is there some trick I don't know about? Is transferring these blades to an empty Schick magazine possible and a better option?
If you can transfer them to a Schick container, the problem magically disappears. Transferring them one at a time is not particularly difficult, but more than one is a pain, IME.
The design of these magazines is faulty. Their main use must be for something other than loading in a Schick! There are two main problems I have encountered, the pushbar running over the top of the blade when there is any resistance, and the problem of the blade not wanting to enter the slot in the razor. Sometimes the blade can be jockeyed in but not always.
I have managed to overcome these difficulties by using a small slothead screwdriver to push the blade in, although I am not sure this is good for the shaving edge. Moving the blades to an empty container seems to be a better option.
The blades are great but their container really needs to be redesigned.
Never did understand this issue. Mine work fine. Loads blades fine. Only issue I had was when I removed the white plastic used blade receptacle. Only then could I not get it to load blades because they kept coming out of the back of the injector where the receptacle once was and prevent this.
I'm going to transfer some because the difficulties with the magazine makes reaching for one of my many Gillette DE's more appealing. One more question if I may, of all the vintage Schick magazines is there one that is superior for transfers or actual use (not considering blade quality). I have one Krona-Chrome 2 blade injector that came with my adjustable. I'm wondering if earlier ones or the later Platinum are better.
Currently I transfer them, six or seven at a time, to a used metal Schick magazine that I keep for that purpose. I don't transfer more than that so as not to jam up the old magazine.
That said, I have been able to use the Personna type magazines by twisting the whole magazine slightly so the blade lines up, and then when removing them, making sure that I'm holding on to both the plastic and metal parts so they don't fall apart.
I have an adjustable Schick Injector ( black handle and wheel with large black dot and cross in the middle and numbers from 1 to 7) and I have absolutely no problems using Pella cartridge. It aligns perfectly, easily push an old blade out and the new blade never get too close to blade stops when it slides in so it's not touching them and getting dulled. I guess head design vary from injector to injector.
So it definitely appears like it depends on which model you have as to whether or not you have to do something extra with these dispensers. I just got an L1 in 2 days ago and had to use the "insert key and twist just a hair" method but it works. With a PAL Injecto-matic razor, it works perfect without any additional methods or having to transfer blades to another dispenser.
