Has Brut Changed??

We all know the reformulations that hit our beloved Old Spice (I just splashed on some early P&G after my shave) but has anyone noticed a difference in Brut Splash On Lotion?
The reason I ask is I am currently using a green plastic bottle of Brut 33 from the 1980's and today I opened a new bottle of Brut Splash On in the store and took a whiff and it was MUCH weaker and seemed a different scent.

Has a reformulation occured or has the scent of my bottle of Brut changed as it aged for 25 years??

Let us in the know :001_cool:

I don't know if the actual Brut has changed, but the knock of Brut from my Family Dollar smells exactly like the Brut I remember wearing as a teenager.:lol:

I actually like the smell of it, despite having covered my entire body with it as a teenager. :001_rolle

Isn't the 33 the cologne? makes sense that it would be stronger if that were the case

+1 to the DG knockoff, seems to have a bit more menthol too:velva2:

If you search on Brut in this forum you'll find a lot of threads. One gent who was pretty familiar with aftershaves has posted that in the 80's Brut in America was weakened (1/3 of it's original strength thus the "33") and that a stronger version was still available in Europe. After a while the "33" was dropped but the scent was still muted.

*facepalm* you're totally right

...In 1968, a budget range was marketed as Brut 33 because it contained 33% of the fragrance of the original product... ...was described by the company as a "lighter fragrance"... ...Fabergé was taken over by Unilever in 1978, and transferred to the Pond's division in 1989... ...There the Brut 33 range took over the name Brut.

had it bass-ackwards...
