Hartsteel razors

They are fantastic razors; I have two of them, both 7/8ths, and have to force myself to use any of my other straights. The cocobolo scaled one I have doesn't have the curly/swirled grain that is shown in the product picture at Classic Shaving, but is still very, very nice looking.

I have one Hart Steel razor and it my favorite straight. I like the grind and feel of the blade. I ordered mine with the maple scales. I have no problems with the blade but I do not feel the scales help balance the weight of the blade. The scales are VERY light in my opinion and I had a member here, Doc226, who was kind enough to rescale it for me with horn scales. It was a fantastic upgrade to the razor to say the least.

I really like the Hart Steel Razors - I have four, all with Hart scales (black, white, walnut, and ivory).

I think the steel is very good. The wood scales are way too light for the razor.

The razor I rescaled for Shaverjoe took on a very, very nice edge.

Anyone here shaving with a Hart that has a light beard? I ask because, it seems to me, of the few 1/4 hollow razors I own, and one of them is a very nice vintage for barbers use Wade & Butcher, the 1/4 grind seems to work best when I have a lot of hair to remove, such as if I let my beard grow (don't shave) for 4-5 days. IOW, 1/4 grinds in my experience and with my beard type, I feel I just don't have the facial shrubbery (enough beard) to shave daily to warrant using a 1/4 grind. So I'd be interested in hearing from anyone that has a light beard and shaves daily with their Hart straight razor

The Hart wooden scales are a little lighter than the stabdard silicone scales, but they all balance nicely (blade is faily heavy, which I like)

I too agree - great razors I have both 6/8 and 7/8 ones - they are my go to razors. I too feel the scales are lacking and I am thinking about having some scales made.

*(pictures help this visual)...

just sayin...

Paco-

I won't even shave with it. I've got it wrapped in a tube sock in my sock drawer- I'm ashamed to even let it see the light of day

As you can tell, Doc did a great job and my photo does nothing to catch the true beauty of the horn scales.
