If he's shaving ... why is there no lather on his face? And no can of goo or any other toiletry items visible in the photo?

Maybe he's planning to use that bottle of Gatorade as an ASL?

He's dry shaving. It happens in the field.

Ouchie. But, makes you look 110% B.A.

We're weenies with our silvertip brushes, nickel plated bowls, fine soaps and creams, and fine frangrances.

I disagree. It makes you look smart because if you don't get a good shave your gas mask wont seal and that is a really bad thing.

And that, my friends, would really really suck!

OK...I have to wonder if theres something that can be done about this...

You can buy MRE heaters, $20 for a dozen. They also sell the individual 'beverage bags' they provide for making hot coffee, something like $5 for a dozen...Fill the beverage bag with some water and drop in the shaving brush, stuff this in the heater...

Then again I kinda wonder why they don't consider this type of thing when deploying troops...It would SUCK to die because you nicked yourself dry shaving and got a nasty blood infection, like that one Brit archaeologist in Egypt...

The MRE heaters give off a noticeable smell. I wouldn't want it on my brush. Heaters are better used on the chow itself to make it more palatable, especially in cold weather.

As for the military not considering this, you are given the opportunity and often ordered to stock up on goop cans before marching off into the wild tan yonder. Electrical outlets are sometimes available for electric razors, depending on where you are. Heck, our 7-ton trucks have AC outlets in the cabs.

If dry shaving happens in the field, it's either a failure to pack properly, a deep-rooted desire to be CRAZY HARDCORE, or simply one of those time constraints that are just part of military life.

That, or maybe somebody forgot to shave one too many times, and is being taught how important proper hygiene is!
