Happy all around. Razor, Blade, Cream, prep, and AS

To all the newbies out there, listen up: Pay attention to the B/S/T threads, watch them closely and check in often. Chances are that you'll find a great deal on a superb razor for less than you'll find on the 'bay. And so I proceed.

I worked straight through the weekend. I work in the Emergency Room at a local hospital, and with the influx of patients complaining of flu symptoms, I knew that this Monday was going to be just like every other Monday at a hospital; crazy! I had the early shift, meaning, that I had to get to sleep rather early on Sunday night. I took my sleeping pills early and fell asleep long before I was able to give myself a proper nightly shave. I recall SWMBO smartly commenting that I should probably shave soon, as my eyelids grew heavy and I dozed off to sleep. Rushing around this morning, I contemplated shaving, however, I know my skin, and if I was to rush and give myself a shave in the morning, I'd have nothing but irritated skin all day, so I went with it. My day continues, and the waiting room of the ER fills. With each person complaining of the wait time, I feel myself stroking the growth that has ensued upon my face wishing I could get out of that hell-hole. In between patients, I was watching on my cell all of my ebay transactions coming to a close. I had a few lots of razor, one of which I won, which only made my skin itch that much more. I quickly realized that today was Monday!! And not just any Monday, but the the Monday that premiered the first episode of this season's Bachelor. (I must intervene and implore you to keep reading!!) I was saved! I would be out of work shortly, and when I appeared at home, dinner would be made, and SWMBO would be having a TV date with my mother to watch the first episode of The Bachelor as they do every season! This gave me 2 solid hours to pamper myself, and I could barely contain my enthusiasm..

I scarfed through my dinner and cleaned up the mess, quickly cuddled with the mrs to make her feel warm and sparkly, and when it came time for her to part ways, I jumped at the chance to dive into the bathroom! Without missing a beat, I started my prep of soaking my brush and scuttle. I had time to kill, so I opted to give myself the full treatment tonight,

HOT TOWEL SHAVE!! I soaked the towel in the steamy hot water as I gathered the toiletries I would be using. Wringed out the towel and let it moisturize my face. Each minute letting the hot cloth permeate my skin. When I felt like I had enough, I applied the Body Work pre shave oil to my skin (first attempt) and emptied the scuttle.

Tonight was going to be a special night, so I reached in the cabinet for my '51 Aristocrat with Personna Med Prep blade (3rd shave) and let it soak in the sink. My lather was going to continue with the pre-shave oil, The Body Works Maca Root Shave Cream, which I loaded from the fresh tub I received in the mail today. One of these days I will post a review of this product, however, for time, we'll say that I was able to produce a fresh, thick lather, rather effortlessly with minimal water, enough to provide for my 4-pass shave.

I applied the lather to the right side of my face and worked the razor through a 3 pass clean smooth shave. Reloaded and went to plow through the stubble on the left side of my face. This razor/blade combo whacked through it all without missing a beat! No skipping, easy glide with minimal effort. No drying of the cream, and boy have I warmed up to the smell of this cream!

I had enough cream left over in the brush and scuttle to give myself a clean up pass which brought my face to the true BBS that I have been getting lately. Upon rinsing and applying the Witch Hazel, I noticed that I have successfully applied such little pressure that I had no nicks yet again *yay* And when I applied the Clubman VI Bay Rum AS there was not even more than a quick cringe because there was merely a slight burn. No deep cuts, no weepers, no nicks that were unseen. For the first time since I started using a splash, I did NOT burn!!

I cannot say that practice makes perfect, however, I can say that with practice of blade angle, pressure, and strokes, practice can certainly improve the outcome of one's shaving experience!
