Hanni The Weighted Razor

I searched and I was surprised that I did not find much information on the Hanni weighted razor. I got 2 razors as part of the eBay lot that I bought not too long ago. Since I took out all the blades, before they got lost in my blade bin, I decided to take a few pictures as the Hanni blades are different from a regular DE blade.

The Hanni razor is primarily sold for women from what I was reading. However, it's not because it's pink that it's gender-specific! I have a black one too(I call it the Ninja razor)! Gillette made the Lady Gillette and I know that some members around here use it in their rotation. So, this is no different than the Lady Gillette.

I did not try the razor yet so I will refrain from making any comment on how it should shave for now. I will test it eventually but I'm not ready yet.

First, this is what a Hanni safety razor looks like.

So far, looks like a regular safety razor. The blades are different, here's the Hanni blade versus an Astra Superior Platinum.

Astra under and Hanni on top, the holes do not line up exactly.

The other way around, the Astra SP on top and Hanni under.

When the Hanni blade is dropped in the razor.

Here's the Astra, it doesn't sit flat in the razor (Center post).

If I push the blade in (pushing on the T of Astra and "R P" of Superior Platinum), it places the blade a bit better

If I close the doors, this is the Hanni Blade

Now, the Astra SP in the Razor

The blade is straight on both but the exposure is different. I do not know how badly it's going to affect the shave (or not).

When I open the doors on the Astra SP, it's wedged in there.

I need something like a small screwdriver to pop the blade out.

From there, I could either cut a larger hole in the middle to make the blade sit at the bottom. The middle bar will align the blade. I will try the razor eventually without any modifications to see if it's worth it or not to modify the blade.

Perhaps you can use a nail clipper to chip the astra blade. This Is Just Like Breaking The Tabs On A split in half DE.. Only harder..however, I'd imagine you wouldn't want to go that far. When you can easily get a better razor than the Hanni so cheaply.. One that doesn't use special proprietary blades..

Iridian

Cool and slimy
Hanni and Nanni are two sisters in a novel by Enid Blyton who are into field hockey and horses.

Weird that this razor uses slightly different blades. Maybe a marketing genius wanted to make sure that only real Hanni blades get used.

Maybe use a paper hole puncher to widen that center hole…. That could be big enough to make it fit better.
I was going to use a drill but a paper puncher might be easier. It's going to be a one-shot deal, just to know if the difference is really improving the shave.

Where you identify the yellow markings, it fits in the razor. It's only the center post that doesn't fit.

However, here's the thing that I will confirm when I put a blade in. I don't intend to play with a punch or anything to make a standard DE blade fit in there. I will try it once with a modified blade to see the difference. But, if it works without any changes, that's ok in my books. It will then depend on how good or bad the shave is.

It's a strange idea to do that. I always thought the idea of making a safety razor (today) was to have some kind of range/compatibility with the current safety razor blades. If you made it difficult for your users to grab a different blade, they might still try it but, if the blade isn't great, then you lost them.

One tip...I use a magnet w/ a small handle (frig mags) to grab a DE when needed...
Or my dart magnet.

Also appears that razor looks like a rebranded painted/ coated puppy.
Here is this one on ali by iRazor.
Which I think looks better in the raw...

Good luck with the new butterflies...

I'm pretty sure the magnet trick won't work. It's not moving at all when the doors are open.

The razor that you are showing sure looks like the same (should I say clone? but then, who cloned who?). I would be curious to know if these have the same "feature" with the blades.

That’s an accident waiting to happen.

Could the paint job be the cause of the tight fit? The other chrome twin posted seems to use regular blades.
I don't know how bad it is, yes the blade pops out but it's secured when the doors are closed. It's only difficult/annoying when I try to remove the blade. The rest is ok.

The paint could be part of the issue. If I use it a few times, I will probably see where the paint is more affected by the blade. I could sand it a bit but right now, I rather try it as is and see.

So far, I don't think it's any worse than any other razor that uses a blade that was manipulated/cut/snapped/modified to fit that specific razor. Here, I didn't do anything to the blade yet.

those hanni blades just look wrong...plus add the razors coating..
remember, you only have one face..
have fun and be safe.
