Had shave# 4 and it was much better

Last night I had straight shave no. 4 and it was much better. I took my dovo to the 8000 stone for five minuttes, stropped it for 50 laps than had a shave.

I still only did the cheeks, jawline and neck and took the upper lip and chin with a DE.

It was a much better experience than previous efforts. Chin hair and upper lip still tug like crazy, but I thinks it's technique and angle, the blade seems to be cutting the hair just fine.

Funny though, cut my self a good one on the nose with the DE !

It is tough to get a great shave off a 8K stone, it could be done but one really needs to max out the 8K potential. I have shaved off 8K stones but really prefer something finer.

Most guys have and finish on a norton 8k don't they?
Do you finish on a Belgian?

I gauge a razors sharpness by how it shaves my upper lip. If it tugs there it will tug and pull trying shave atg and I usually grab another razor before continuing. I suspect your edge still lacks some sharpness.

I am an edge snob-and proud of it.

I think some guys do finish on an 8K stone, but most of the regular straight shaver have something else to finish on.
