I know what you mean, I stopped well short of 90.
Yeah it was on my watch list too. I am know to over pay but I couldnt bring myself to do it.
Im surprised it did not go for more, case was clean, and this is the same razor as a Senator The only difference is the chrome plating and they go for way more

There were a good 5 or 6 TTO open comb Gillettes on the bay this past week. They all ended up going for a price out of my range. I'm really not down for paying more than $70 or so unless it's in *excellent* condition. Even then, the last second bidding wars can be demoralizing if you don't come out on top. I think a member here just recently won an OC aristocrat for ~$150 in really nice condition. I want one, but not for that much. OC TTOs are sexy, imo.
We have books like "The Art of Manliness" and the good ladies and gentlemen of the B&B and many more sites like this to thank for the increase in prices. It is frustrating, but the supply and demand is a direct reflection of the resurgence of DE shaving. I can't say enough about how awesome it is to have finally discovered the proper shave. I actually had my sister in-law looking for a Lady Gillette on ebay last night and my brother in-law wants a new Muhle R101 thanks to my big mouth. Is that a bad thing to want your circle of friends to enjoy the same way of shaving we have all come to love? As we all know since they don't make Gillette DE's anymore, there is a finite number of them to be had. Bid while the bidding is still good brothers and sisters of the B&B and good luck.

I dunno... It's certainly not an "insane" price but it does seem a little on the high side to me. The case was really just "alright" -- a fair amount of scuffing on the outside, looks like at least one good nick on the bottom, and the fabric inside has seen better days. Even though it's got a sealed pack of blades with it, I'd have a very hard time believing it was unused just from the general condition.
All that said, could someone get $90 of enjoyment out of it? Definitely.
