Group Buy: KAI Captain Excelia Razors

This is the group buy thread for folding and/or non-folding KAI Captain Excelia disposable razors. These razors are similar to Feather Artist Club DX razors - they are made of stainless steel and Feather AC blades fit them. They cost 18,900 yen (approx. $201 USD) in Japan. From time to time I am able to get them at a discounted price. Currently, the price is 10,000 yen (approx. $106 USD) plus shipping. Availability at this price is fluid and not guaranteed so it's first come first served. As razors become available, I will announce it here. If you're interested, you must post here stating so by May 7, 2010. I will continue to get razors for people after the deadline but only for those who posted here before the deadline.

  • Specify the amount and type of razor that you want in your post.
  • I'm not doing this for a profit so you are responsible for the PayPal fee.
  • I prefer PayPal payments but send me PM if you want to pay using another method.
  • PayPal payments must be in yen. I will send you an invoice (US shipping payments will be in USD and separate.)
  • I cannot get blades with the razors.
  • Delivery is within 2.5 weeks of payment, at the very latest.

This seller won't ship abroad. As a result, a friend of mine in Japan will buy the razors. If you're in the US, I will ship them to you. If you're somewhere else, he will ship it directly to you. It's cheaper for both US and international buyers this way.

Here's an example for US buyers:
1 folding Excelia: 10,000 yen
Shipping to friend from seller: 500 yen
Bank transfer fee: 200 yen (Many payments in Japan are made using bank transfers.)
Shipping to me in NY: Free
Shipping to buyer by USPS Priority w/insurance: $7.50 (approx.)
PayPal fee: 500 yen (approx.)

Here's an example for non-US buyers:
1 folding Excelia: 10,000 yen
Shipping to friend from seller: 500 yen
Bank transfer fee: 200 yen (Many payments in Japan are made using bank transfers.)
Shipping to buyer by Japan Express Mail w/insurance: 1,200 yen
PayPal fee: 550 yen (approx.)

Hi Telly, this sounds great. My question is that you say they are 10,000y, but then in the next sentence say that the price is fluid. Does that mean that the price could possibly be more than the 10,000 I sign on for, or are you saying that is the price they are available for now, but that future orders may cost more?
I'm quite interested depending upon conditions as outlined above.

The seller has sales on these razors and his prices have ranged from 9,000 yen to 11,000 yen. These last few months they've consistently been at 10,000 yen. Once the sale ends or the razors are sold out, whichever is sooner, the price shoots up to 18,900 yen again. At that time, we would have to wait until another sale came around.

My point that it's first come first served is that we're not the only ones buying these razors. Obviously, people in Japan are buying them too. I might announce that a razor is available and by the time someone in this thread claims it, someone in Japan has purchased it. That's why I say availability is fluid.

Good luck on the buy Telly-:thumbup1:

Thanks, Jim!

Closed.

There were supposed to be more interested buyers. I don't know what happened to them but we move on. Since there are only two buyers, we'll continue this by PMs. Thanks.

OK. Guys, I finally got some razors. I have nine folding razors available right now. I have four buyers so five razors are still available. Send me a PM.

Where is everyone? People were clamoring for these razors. Now the razors are available and nobody responds to my PMs. I'm going to have to offer them to other people then.

Put me down for both razors Telly.

You should have my previous PM's on the details.

Just get back to me and we'll work things out. :thumbup1:

Well, that's it. My offer of the folding razors is officially closed.

I'll keep everyone updated on any changes in the availability of the non-folding razors.

At the rate people are backing out, I'll have to offer them on other sites. I don't want them to go to waste because we don't know when they'll be available at this price again.

I had wanted one, then talked myself out of wanting one.....

I don't think you will be disappointed, but if you are then someone will be happy later on B/S/T. :001_smile

The non-folding handle is excellent. The curved shape provides a comfortable grip and there is just enough rubberized surface on the medal handle to make it feel stable and secure. Plus TstebinsB is great to work with.

Yes, I'm well aware that Telly is fantastic! I have two Friodurs I got from him.

The non-folding is the one that is singing the Siren song for me....

However, my bank account is also making a siren sound....as in the cops coming to get me for bouncing checks!

(OK, not THAT bad, but funds are a little thin....we'll see....:001_smile)
