Great resto job by RudyVey

Rudy recently did some work for me restoring an old Plisson I found while antiquing over the holidays. It's a tiny thing that took a 16mm knot...just perfect for face lathering. :w00t:

Unfortunately, the replacement decals Plisson sent did not include the "Pur Blaireau", and you can still faintly see the outline, but that's nothing to do with Rudy.

I particularly like the color matching between the base and the knot, and the main part of the handle shined up very nicely. It is not horn as I had hoped, but rather "butterscotch swirl" :tongue_sm

All in all a marvelous job and I can't wait to break my new brush in!

He certainly does. This is the second brush he's done for me and I'd have no hesitation to recommend him to anyone. He's very very good.

that's beautiful.

I actually think the "butterscotch swirl" look is better than the "horn" look anyway.

Totally sweet brush.

And a hearty "here, here" to Rudy as a great brush restorer.

Re: Unfortunately, the replacement decals Plisson sent...

Didn't know they do this. Did you have to email them a picture of the old brush before sending you the company's decals? Wonder aren't they afraid of counterfeiting.

That 16mm knot looks pretty small, is there a big different between the 20mm and the 16mm?. I am think about re-storing a brush with the 16mm and that is why I am asking.

Beautiful job on the re-store by the way, well done Rudy!

I sent a picture with the email request, so I can't say if they'd ask for one if you didn't. I was hoping they could identify and date it for me, but they couldn't.

Hope TGN will have soon an 18 mm Finest knot. These Finest knots are my favorite knots. This handle wouldn't take anything bigger than the 16 mm knot, and this was tough to fit in it, I had to whittle down the glue plug a bit. I wanted to keep the Plisson-typical metal. Looks like all their knots are fitted inside a conical, i.e. tapered to the inside of the handle, metal cup. Removing all the metal would have jeopardized the stability of the handle, as the Bakelite material would be pretty thin and could break easy. So, I think the metal inserts are for having a much more stable brush.
