Got to love people watching

So today, I went to a local burger place to have lunch, Since it was a nice day and I had time to kill, myself and 2 buddies found a picnic table out back and started eating. We are all just watching the crowd, to see what is going on and enjoying the day. One of the guys elbows me and says check out the guy on the bike. So I look over and see a guy on a bicycle ride up to a car parked in the lot. This is happening directly in front of us about 15 feet away. All three of us have a clear view between the car and the guy on the bike. They have a brief conversation, then the lady in the car hands out a fist full of cash. Guy on the bike then opens a box on the back of his bike and hands into her probably a half Kilo of a bright white powder in a sealed plastic bag. Now all three of us are looking at each other, I am thinking I can't believe this, there are probably 40 people sitting at picnic tables, these two aren't even trying to hide the deal going on. The three of us are obviously watching the world go by since we are all on the same side of the table and are not hiding that we are checking out the goings on in the parking lot and in line at the burger place.

I glance over to the guy on my right and he is pretending to type out a text on his phone, while actually snapping pics on the camera. He then types a quick text and sends the photos and text off to someone. With my eyes, I ask what who he was texting, he just shook me off. He then gets a text reply, which says "5 min" which he shows myself and the guy on my left. So a couple min later the place looks like it has a sign that says free coffee and doughnuts as marked and unmarked police cars converge from the side streets, the main street, and all over the place. Half of them get in line to order burgers, and the rest just walk up to the car/ and bike guy and start hauling people off. No one even came up to us or acknowledged my buddy during this whole operation. I asked him who he sent the text to, he said a detective buddy of mine who I happen to know goes to lunch about the same time I sent the text, apparently they all decided to have a burger for lunch.

Not judging, but unless I were to witness a crime against a person, I would mind my own business. But then again, I also think we spend far too much money, time and energy prosecuting and incarcerating individuals for consensual crimes.

That is pretty much my attitude, unless you are bothering me personally, I don't care what you are doing legal, illegal, moral, immoral its your business. I have lived here 30 years, except for calling 911 I wouldn't even know how to get a hold of a cop. I know a couple retired local cops, but they were retired before I met them.

Crazy. In most cases I'd agree with pcullens and airplanedoc, but that much of a certain substance and you can be pretty sure that it's not for personal use. Consensual crimes are one thing, but those two are entrepreneurs.

I applaud your friend for taking the stand and contacting the police. Drugs may be a consensual crime, but it is one that is dipped in blood from the cultivation and harvesting to the street. While the woman and guy on the bike may not have been directly hurting anyone, someone somewhere has paid a heavy price for that transaction.

Edmund Burke summed it up with, "All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."

not nearly as interesting of a story, but getting lunch today, one guy was saying to his buddy: "Listen I'm sorry that I stuck pork products to your face, but that was not a cheap shirt and I think you should replace it".

No idea what they where talking about, but I would have paid to be present at the incedent in question.
