What's new

Got my first badger brush in.

I just started DE a few months ago, and I decided to purchase a budget-friendly setup in case I later found out it wasn't for me. I was coming from a Mach3. I started with a basic $10 Omega boar brush.

Well, several months later I have to admit I still reach for the cartridge razor when I oversleep, but I still DE 50% of the time. As for the brush...all I can say is WOW. I absolutely loved the boar brush and I use it 100% of the time, no matter what. One day I was running really late and decided to use some canned gel I used to use - my face was no longer accustomed to it and it smelled very bad and made my face feel numb - I hated it and have never used it again.

So I decided since I loved the brush+soap combo so much, I might as well step up my brush and decided to pickup the badger. I stuck with Omega since I loved the boar so much and bought the basic pure badger brush. I shaved this morning for the first time with it, and boy what a difference! It felt scratchy at first, but I know that will die down as I use it. Right now my boar is smoother than the badger, but the badger holds SO MUCH more water and lather, it's crazy! I'm very happy with it. I've been trying to convert some of my friends, both male and female, to try using brush+soap/cream instead of canned. Its so much more enjoyable they are more inclined to give it a try.

Anyway, I felt like I had to share my story with someone, so thanks for reading!

Glad to hear you're enjoying wetshaving! So far I've gotten my best friend converted to wetshaving and he enjoys it very much. Doesn't have to worry much about running out of stuff either since I keep him well supplied! :biggrin1:

They are skeptical but I urge them to just try it out and let them use my brush and soap right there. I whip up the lather for them then let them take it from there. Once they try it they love it, the warm lather, the smells, the feeling of the brush on your face. As far as the DE goes I have not been able to convince anyone to try it. I think switching from canned cream to a brush is a lot smaller step then a cartridge to a DE.

Great story. I converted 5 people, including my girlfriend, to a DE, brush, and traditional products over the last 2 years. It's great when you hear that others are having success with traditional wet shaving.

If you ever stumble across a small pile of cash, try a Rooney Super Silvertip or Shavemac Finest.

I have 2 badger brushes on the way, and I am getting impatient!:tongue_sm TESC actually LOST my order and after 3 weeks or waiting I contacted them and they are resending it.....:thumbdown I hope it is as much a step up from my Boar as yours was!

As for converting I am working on my two younger brothers. My youngest has used my setup about 3 or 4 times and I think he might be hooked, good thing my new AD has kept me supplied enough to share!
