Good lotion style aftershaves on a budget. GO!

Hi all,

looking for a good lotion style aftershave that wont break the bank. Name and price would be helpful. Thanks

Speick is a great after shave balm for under $10 I think, and Proraso gets a lot of love on here for around the same price. You can pick up Nivia ASB locally which does well for the same money, but my first choice would be Speick. Enjoy your shave!

Nivea makes a good one-- about $5 at Walmart.

Using Proraso pre/post or 3P can make for some good balms. You can find them for $10-12 and if you them as pre and post it makes them well worth it!

That depends on your definition of lotion,

For splashes any of the ones you can find in your drugstore are great IMO, Mennen, Clubman, Old Spice, Aqua Velva.

For balms Nivea Sensitive would be a great choice.

I like the Nivea Sensitive, but it seems to lose its fragrance over time - but it's readily available, works well and is inexpensive.

If $5 isn't too much, I agree with the Nivea balm. If it is, how about good ol' AFTA...by Mennen! $afta-after-shave-skin-conditioner-original-3oz-1.jpg

It will set you back all of about $2.50. The scent isn't particularly great (a generic modern "sporty" scent), but the performance is quite good. It was all I used for more than 30 years and I'm none the worse for it.

CVS (branded) cooling after shave is the same as Aqua Velva Ice Blue. A 5 oz. bottle sells for $4.79 - last time I checked.

I've bought 3 or so bottles of Nivea, however, it is greasy to me and not the best for the buck by far. You should look up L'oreal men's expert comfort max aftershave balm. Yea, they are known for womens products but I really like this stuff. It smells really good and doesn't leave me with a sticky greasy feel like Nivea. It's also spf 15 I believe. Other than that, I really love the old Proraso balm in the glass bottle with rounded edges. LaToja balm is on my wishlist.

+1 on Afta. I love it! There is original and fresh scent. I prefer the original. I really enjoy the scent. And you can't beat the price.

If it's greasy/sticky, you're using too much and/or not massaging it in to your skin long enough. Once dry, any lotion should be well-absorbed into your skin and not leave behind any sticky or greasy residue.

I use Art of Shaving AS gel in Sandalwood. It is rather expensive, but an extremely small amount, roughly four match heads, gives full cheek and neck coverage.

I'd generally agree, (but au contraire). I've never tried Nivea lotion, but did buy Nivea Creme in a small blue tin - what was I thinking? Thought it might be beneficial pre or post shave - forget it! This stuff doesn't dry out. No matter how little you might use, and how much you might rub it in, and to whatever extent it does absorb into your skin... There is a remaining greasy residue. I hate that. It may be a fine moisturizer or skin conditioner. Some folks may love the product but (for me also), Nivea is greasy. No thank you. And (Lol), if anyone reading this knows of a Nivea skin creme or balm that isn't greasy, please post of it to let me know. I probably won't buy it, but I am curious.
