Good DE razors from the mid 70s

I've seen a few people talking about birth razors, razors that were made at the same time as them. This seems like as good an excuse as any to buy a razor. So I was born in 1976; what razors were good then?

For full marks they need to be a kind that's date stamped, otherwise I lose my excuse and have to think of another one.

i'm 1976 vintage as well, i bought a Gillette Super Speed W-2 (Birth Year and Quarter).

You are looking for a W 1/2/3/4 Black handle SuperSpeed, Tech or Super Adjustable. I'd look for the super adjustable unless you like super mild razors.

The Gillette Super Adjustable (Black Beauty) Long Handle (with a W date code) would be the best one IMO. I actually prefer the short handle version of the Black Beauty but they quite making those by 1976. I'm a W1 myself. I have a Gillette W1 Black Handle Super Speed too, but it's one of the worst DE shavers I own.

I have a 1976 and a 1978 black handled superspeeds that belonged to my Godfather as well as some from 1968 my birth year. I use them quite a bit and they are wonderful shavers. I used the 1978 this morning with a Wilkinson sword blade and Cella and a boar brush and got an awesome bbs shave..

Interesting, ta. I'll have to start keeping an eye out for them. I've got a '40s superspeed and it's great.

Were any non-Gillettes good then? I see some people like the Schcick Krona, but I don't think they had date stamps.
