Goldwash/Etching

I just bought this ERN today. It will be a bit before I get it, but there is a bit of light surface rust in the gold wash. Any I idea how I can clean it off without harming the goldwash?

Thanks!

I have the same problem with a Dorko. I have not buffed the blade because of the gold wash..I know that it will shine up nicely if I buff it but...
Covering the wash with fingernail polish or taping to mask the wash might help?
Let us know if you succeed with some method.

If the gold wash area is rust free (there looks to be some on the razor in the picture), you can apply Nail Polish over the Gold Wash area to protect it and buff the rest of the blade. Then once complete, use nail polish remover to remove the nail polish which won't harm the gold wash.

I've used this method during restorations with good results if there isn't rust to the gold wash areas (engravings can be protected in a similar fashion.

Hope this helps
