Gold plating a fatboy?

Has anyone ever done this? kind of hard to find a mint executive nowdays so I was wondering is this a route that anyone would disagree with? Has anyone done it? if so what did you do with it and how did you do it? What do I do.... Really curious on your opinions here.

If gold is your bling then go for it. It's going to be you who uses it and looks at it every day.
I have a rhodium toggle. Love it. So do whatcha like!

That looks sweet any idea how much it costs approximately for a gold one by him?

I polished my old razor smooth then put it in a stainless steel bowl of steric acid with an old gold band from my wife's engagement ring. I hooked a 12v battery to the rim of the bowl (positive terminal) and the negative terminal to a wire attached to the end of the razor. 3 days later the acid had dissolved the ring and most of the gold had attached to the razor.

Ok Ok. Dave at Restored Razor is your best bet. Every example of his work I have see was stunning. He doesn't buff the details off a razor when taking the old finish off. He sends you back a razor that literally looks like it rolled of the Gillette factory line. The line that produced special requests, gifts and presentation pieces for dignitaries and heads of state. Seriously. Top shelf work.

I think if the country collapses we should head for Jeff's house as his Mcgyver skills could keep us all alive and well for a long time.

I like a gold razor and I always wonder why they are not that popular.

i say do it...easy rider..if it feels good ...do it.

+1. I recently rediscovered my gold-plated Fatip-Weber Bulldog and am really enjoying it.

Listen, if the country collapses you are all welcome at my house. But if you expect to survive on my McGyver skills I have 4 words for you. Bring food with you.
