Going to Wash DC

I'm traveling to Washington DC for business tomorrow for a few days. I'm staying at a hotel near Dupont circle and at a near Metro stop is a brick and mortar AOS. Thought I would stop in an pick me up a goodie. I have heard that the AOS soaps are very nice, any other "must haves" while I'm there?

IMHO, the soap is the #1 thing to buy in an AoS store. Get the bowl too..go for the gold. Best value for the money.

Their creams are nice, as are their ASBs (tho very heavy).

Everything else (brushes, razors, accoutrements) are WAY overpriced.

If you can get a ride, head out to Tyson's corner too and go to The Grooming Lounge in Tyson's Corner Mall. More variety in their selection, better prices and a little better sales representation.

+1 What he said on everything.

Bill --

Here's a re-run of an earlier post. Folks come to DC, but like most major cities, there's not very much in the realm from retail stores.

Grooming lounge is here, and they have their own product line that's supposed to be pretty good.

Enjoy your trip.

Thanks guys, I won't have a car nor the time to get out to Tyson's (maybe next time) but I will stop by the AOS.

There is a Grooming Lounge location downtown on L Street between Connecticut and 18th. It's right across the street from the AoS that you're talking about (the one in the Washington Square building on Connecticut. AoS actually fronts L Street, I believe).

If you look up our other threads about places in DC, or the lack thereof, and want to check out Rodman's, it's up on Wisconsin a couple blocks south of the Friendship Heights Metro station on the Red Line

On your first day go into the AOS store and get their sample pack. Its got unscented shave cream, preshave oil, and aftershave balm. Enough to get you by for a couple days - for free.
