Hi Guys,
Do any of you have a 'Go-back-to' razor?
I have some lovely vintage razors with beautiful blades and scales and they all give lovely shaves. I also have a nice John Watts, Sheffield razor with black scales from around 1905. It's nothing special but I find myself going back to it time and again. The shave is probably no better or worse than any other, but it just has that 'pull' - weird.
The other weird thing about it is, after many years of using DE and Single Edges, I just thought one day - 'I'd like to try a Straight' and a few days later the postman left a parcel with no papers inside or sender address, just this vintage John Watts in original case and two vintage face cloths with the word 'Razor' on them.
I didn't buy that razor nor did I tell anyone I wanted to try a Straight.
What's this all about?
