What's new

Glass storage bowls for soaps.

If this is old hat to some, my apologies.
Found these today in "Tarjay" :001_smile in the housewares/kitchen section, four pack for $6.44. Nice tight fitting lid and what appears to be sturdy thick glass. A new home for grated Palmolive stick as well as couple pucks that have been stashed in the closet. Pardon the pic from the cell phone. Target lists them as "custard cups", go figure.

stubble trouble

My first purchase was my 34c, but it came with a starter kit (xlarge conk puck, styptic, merkur blades (ouch), smallish rooney badger brush, and a super size mug that is better for storage than soap (diameter bigger than the xl puck of conk ).How can I get the puck to fit in a more reasonable size bowl like the ones above. Grate it up, microwave it, wittle (sp.?) it down.

Not old info...always good to post this every once in awhile to give new folks options...I have the same bowls in my den!

Yeah is comes up every couple weeks, but its a good idea. I use them myself and think they're perfect.

For soaps without tallow, you can melt and pour. Do it slowly, in spurts in the microwave. For any soap, grating is an option. Some folks have suggested a combination of grating and widdlng the soap down a bit. Search for topics on How to Mill Soap into a Container, but basically you just need to grate it and mush it down into whatever you're going to keep it in. Some add a little water, others don't. YMMV, but I don't think you need to.
