Gillette Slim Adjustable

Is it just me or does anyone else find themselves having to tighten their slim adjustable pretty much every pass? Could it be something with my technique or the way I hold the razor or just inherent to the razor.

Great question. How about superspeeds? I keep going untill it is just firm (it doesn't loosen up on me though). Is it ok to keep going? Will I find a built-in hard stop?

I thought he was referring to the TTO. I can't see an adjustment dial behaving like that.

As I understand it:
The doors on your adjustable (or any tto) are attached to a long spindle that sits inside the handle. But unlike other tto's, down at the tip of an adjustable, that spindle has a crimped (or threaded for an early fatboy) cap on it. Underneath that cap is a spring that pushes down on the cap and thus pulls the doors down. It is my understanding that the final quarter turn compresses that spring.

Are you tightening it all the way the first time?
There's an extra quarter turn or so in there after it snugs up.

Yeah, I noticed that when I first started using it and do turn it that final extra 'umph' and still find that the TTO knob still comes loose every once and a while. Also, it may just be because I hold it by the very end on just the knob...

That could be the difference. I rarely touch the knob when using it.
