Gillette Rocket

Hello, I have this odd case for a Gillette Rocket. Has anyone here ever seen this before?

very neat - I have a Canadian Rocket red plastic case - with a made-in-England Aristocrat Jr in it...

is your razor made in England or Canada or the US? It doesn't seem to have rocket endcaps...?

Bottom of the box says made in England, printed in Canada. Nice to see Gillette blue blades again!

but what is stamped on the razor? I wasn't aware that Rockets had blunt endcaps... and the pic on the box shows blunt endcaps (and I think the razor itself has them, but it's hard for me to see).

and if this is a new one on Achim...!

This is the "Rocket" version case of the 1948 US Super Speed. It is also the same cream blade dispenser. I would expect that even though there is no date code, the razor was made in 1948. I thought Mr. razor had a photo of the US version. I need to check.

Wow! Never seen one before, and I have been looking for awhile... exciting that you still find things no one knew about (welll, except for very few I suppose). Thanks for sharing!

Very nice! Oh my, that would look nice next to my '47 and '48 Supers in their Red/Silver boxes. As stated, something new all the time here on B&B. :thumbup1:

this Dispenser is very interesting too! It´s not the US-Dispenser and not the british Dispenser. So it looks like it gives a canadian cream Dispenser.

You have a keen eye, Achim. This dispenser is identical to the one in my 1948 kit except it says Made in Canada instead of Made in USA. The one in my 1947 kit is different. It says Speed-pak instead of Dispenser.

I just checked your site. Your dispensers are identical to mine.

Today I picked up a Brit razor in a Canadian case (made in Montreal )that I am not familiar with so unto Google and up came this excellent old thread . The case says Rocket but it came with an Aristocrat Junior Brit pat 430,030 and it weighs 74 grams with a slightly thicker handle than my other Aristocrat junior which is 3 grams lighter. The interior of the case resembles my 1948 SS case so I'm guessing it's from the late 40s. Not sure if this is the correct razor for this box but with Gillette you can't be too sure .Any thoughts

Here is the Aristocrat Junior that came with the box mismatch?

Glenn,

This is most likely the correct set, inspired by the US SS one perhaps.
That Aristo Jr was found more commonly into the red Rocket as a legit set made for the Canadian market as shown bellow. Came with both types of rockets - the diamond base and the flat bottom base:

Pretty neat set, I'd say. Congrats!

Seventy year old cardboard boxes are a rarity in that condition, mismatch or not ... congrats!
