Gillette New With Gripper Handle

I just received this today from Greg at iKon razors. Not only does he re-plate these razors but also is building them from scratch out of stainless steel. He sent me this razor with his 4" gripper handle. I couldn't wait so I loaded it with a 7'Clock yellow/red wrapper and did one pass WTG. Excellent results and the handle is perfect for this head. The head is a NEW. The re-plating looks like chrome but he claims its nickel. I can't tell the difference. His shop is in Thailand. Next up I will order his stainless steel razor but not sure which handles he is offering. This guy does excellent work:thumbup:

I am not sure. It was advertised as the NEW head. The difference is one has 12 prongs and the other 11. Either way both heads shave great as I have had both razors.

Actually there is quite a difference between the "New" and the "Old Type" head as far as aggressiveness is concerned. The head you have is an "Old Type" and if you shaved well with it then your technique must be perfect. The Old Type head has the bullet studs for blade positioning, the New does not as shown in the photo above.

Yes, that's an Old style razor head. You can tell because you can see the serial number engraved in the base plate in the photo. The New style did not have serial numbers.

Yup, that's an Old Type. Nice handle!

You are probably correct that the head is an Old Type. The handle really balances out this razor perfectly. As far as aggressiveness is concerned I am so used to shaving with open combs that I don't even think twice OMG what do I have in my hand. Hopefully soon I will purchase Greg's iKon stainless steel razor and from what I have read that razor weighs at least an ounce more then this razor and very aggressive. I think the head is similar to the Parker 91R and thats not even an open comb.
