Gillette black 7 o'clocks VS Feather blades

Been a feather user for the last few months but I've been hearing a good deal about these black blades recently. Can anyone who has used both comment?

For me the Feathers are a tad sharper but the (Indian) blacks are more comfortable and last longer. To know how they perform for you you really need to try them for yourself. But they are worth a try for sure!

I recommend you try some. The blacks and feathers are my two favorite blades. I like the gillette blacks a little more for their smoothness and durability.

+1 as said above feathers are sharper but blacks are smooth and last a bit longer. I use both now and have only used feathers in the past until recently.

I don't notice much, if any difference, in sharpness. They are both fine blades, unless YMRV (Your Mileage Really Varies) you'll likely be well pleased with either.

i just ordered a large sample pack of different blades.
i decided to use a new blade every sunday and wednesday.

will try these out shortly.

I like them both. The Blacks seem a tad more comfortable. I've tried a 4th shave with both and decided three shaves is the most I'll do with either. I think I'm sticking to three shave's with any blade for that matter.

Might suggest you look through the razor blades forum, there's tons of discussions about both there.

As Tom says, there is plenty of information in the RB forum. From my own experience, I prefer the Blacks. I gave them both good long tries in a variety of razors and came to the conclusion that the Blacks were far better for me. They are just as sharp as the feathers in my view and are much smoother. I agree with those that say that they last longer as well. They are near the top of my top five blades.

Regards,

Doug

You could close the thread right there. Plenty of YMMV around here, but that sums up how most people who have tried both feel about them. They may settle on the Feather or settle on the Black, but most would agree both are top-tier blades. My experience is identical to talibeard's and I decided to bulk buy the Blacks. If I could only obtain Feathers for some reason, I would not mind much.

You can get Blacks for less than $.25 per blade so I am not sure this is true, unless you know of where to get Feathers for about $.19 per blade.

The last time I bought Feathes they were $27 per 100 shipped. Could you expose where the Blacks are available for less than $25 per 100?

I haven't used a Black for a long time but I recall thinking that it was a worthy competitor to the Feather but since it cost more than the Feather I lost interest.
