Gillette big fellow

how much is too much to pay for an old Gillette Big Fellow with wooden box...however box is broken...it does have the blade holder with it! I'm pretty new to vintage shaving and currently have a Gillette Fat Boy I paid about $10 for and a Gem G bar that I love that I lucked into for 50 cents at a yard sale and it is in great shape. Thanks for any help!!!

Spending your rent money or mortgage payment on it instead would be too much. Having to choose between it or a meal would be too much. Whatever amount of money would make you have regrets even while you're shaving with it would be too much.

But more seriously, we don't do valuation questions here. (See rule #7.) However, you can search in the Buy/Sell/Trade Forum for recent completed sales to get an idea of what they're going for there. You can also search on eBay for completed sales, though you'll only find ones that were correctly identified that way.

Since you're coming at it from more of a "user" standpoint, another way of looking at it would be to see what you'd spend on a roughly comparable new razor and then work from that price.

Thanks for the info...sorry about rule #7...lol. I have an antique store close that has one for sale and was just trying to get the best deal...Thrifty!!!

IDK what to tell you, but given how few of them you see up vs the other OC gillettes of value, they are probably selling for a bit less than what they should be already...

OP, you need to assess what you are looking at beyond the model number, condition, condition.....condition? Full accessories increase the value to a collector but for someone wanting a good user, the mechanics of the razor would be more important (to me anyways). Take a good look at what you are considering and then review completed sales.
