I received this over the weekend...
I've had to do a bit of searching through the forum to find some details about what it is, it appears they aren't too common.
For a very short time in the early 1960s, Gillette in the UK made available the new "Slim-Twist Adjustable" as a 22Ct gold plated "Presentation Set".
This one has a gold plated G4 razor, as well as H3 blades.
It also has all the original paperwork.
The outer cardboard box is in great shape considering its age, the Burgundy leather of the inner case is immaculate (and even smells new).
The interior of the case has a number of brown spots, as do the warranty card and the 'extra half turn' important note card.
There was rust inside the razor (since gone) which makes me think it was used once or twice, put away wet, and never touched again.
The plating on the razor - amazing! It almost glows! It doesn't come out in the photos, but this is amazing! The odd colours in the photos are reflections from around the room - the razor is gold gold gold!
Gillette obviously still had the ability to make a super premium item.
So far as provenance goes - I was told it originally belonged to a Gillette executive in the UK. He was given it as a departing gift when he moved to the States to work for Gillette there. He (or a family member) then moved to New Zealand where it stayed.
