Gillette 7 o'clock dark blue - St Petersburg ?

My favorite blade since I've been wet shaving for the short amount of time I've been using a DE razor is Gillette 7 o'clock dark blue package made in St Petersburg. I bought a couple hundred of these and I'm almost out of them, been search suppliers and cant find any stock. I picked up some soap and balm today at West Coast Shaving and asked if they knew when they'd get some in stock, they said they are not sure if they ever will or not? They've been out of them for 8 months and all they no is that right now suppliers tell them "not available"

Anybody know whats up with these blades? I like them because they are sharp, and also forgiving. I have 10 blades left, going to try some of my samples along with others I have in stock. I sometimes use Personna Medical in blue package, and sometimes Personna Reds. I have a few Astra and Feathers, i dont care much for Astra and frankly I have been afraid to try the feathers. Maybe now is the time?

Can anyone recommend a similar blade as 7 o'clock dark blues?

Anybody know where to get Gillette 7 o'clock dark blues?

Anybody know why there is no supply?

They disappeared from the market some time last year. The two vendors I spoke to said they are not able to get them from their distributors any more. They may be gone but I hold out hope as they are a favorite of mine.

Have you tried the black Indian made 7 O'clock Super Platinum? They are also great blades. If I was using both in identical razors I would have a hard time telling them apart. But as always with blades YMMV.

I have a few hundred put away. They are nice blades.

The Indian made platinum (blacks) are about the closest I have found to the platinum blues from Russia

Silver Blues were almost impossible to find when 7 Blues were readily available. Now it's the other way around. I think they just make some runs of a blade in St. Pete, then switch over to something else, maybe sometimes they keep making the same blade and put them in different packaging. Sure wish we knew what was going on in that plant.

I was able to get my hands on some Czech 7OC Blues, prior to the manufacturing being moved to PPI.

Awesome blades and better than the Russian Blues IMHO.

Yes, not on the market any more, wish I bought many more. Hope they come back soon.

I'd recommend getting some Blacks before they disappear, there doesn't seem to be any warning before they're gone.

This! Get some blacks. Last year I PIF'd some blues and blacks to about ten guys here and we posted our impressions. The results are just about evenly split and many said they really went back and forth with their decision, sometimes changing their minds.

This tells me that although someone could tell them apart, there cannot possibly be a big difference. If you liked the Blues you will definitely like the blacks. You may think you prefer the blues, but the blacks will get you by until/if they become available again.

I'm stockpiling blacks now, from Indian vendors on eBay. Here is the results thread ...

Soooo, I'm in the process of opening a shop and I'm obviously looking for vendors / distributors (any help on this would be AWESOME! Or a point to the right thread?) I reached out to Gillette about the Astra and 7 O'clock series of blades and this is the reply I got:

"Thank you for contacting Gillette, Bryan

Thank you for being interested in our products however we do not sell Astra in America. That is only sold in Europe and Gillette Double Edge Safety razors were discontinued. The only Safety Razors that would be available would be the Art Of Saving Line.

However, if you are still interested in selling Gillette products I have some information for you.

•To be included among the many vendors with whom we will consider doing business, please visit our registration site, http://www.pgsupplier.com and click on prospective supplier and fill out the appropriate information. Advise that entry can only be done in English language.
•This is the best and only route to getting your opportunity reviewed.
•Your opportunity will be evaluated and someone will respond on P&G’s behalf.

I hope this helps!

So no more 7 O'Clock razor blades I guess? Suuucks... But I found out the AoS is owned by Gillette. Didn't know that. Explains why they hock all those 5 bladed monstrosities on their site....

The Czeck dark blues are not the same as the Russian made blues. I'd agree that the black's made in India are the closest option.
