I'm looking for a 1986 Gillette. It's my birth year. I believe it's G date code. My birthday is in May, would prefer a second quarter. I'm willing to buy or trade for the razor.

I was hoping to get a super adjustable. The 80's models have black plastic base plates. I have never came across one in the wild or online.
You'd have better luck finding a Super Adjustable rather than a Super Speed for that year, IMHO. Officially, Gillette ceased production of the Super Speed in '86, though that has been disputed. The Super Adjustable was made until '88. Good luck with your search! I was looking for an A1 (1st. quarter, 1980) Super Adjustable or Super Speed, then I remembered that they switched to the plastic base plates in the late 70's on those, which I don't really care for. So I'll just look for a Super Speed instead.
Best of luck in your hunt. It took me almost two years to find a 'B' SA. I finally had to settle for a 2nd quarter although I was really needing a 1st. Some of the 80's razors are scarce and go for more than you would expect!

Thanks guys, I will just keep looking. Just wanted a birth-year razor, first one I come across I will buy, SS or SA. Does anyone have a plastic Super Adjustable? Wanted to know if it performs any different than the metal ones (first DE was a 1972 super adjustable, one of my top three favorites)
I gave a 'G' Super Adj to my son in law because that's his birth year. I found it on the bay. So yes, they're out there. I have an F4 (1985) and can't say anything bad about the non-metal adjusted plate. It's a fine shaver.

Thank you. I have been looking for them. I have gotten all the characteristics of the razor, but I cannot find that year in eBay. I find from late 70s, early 80s, but not "THE" 86 G.
Any other idea of places to find other than eBay?

Bought an NOS I-1 Super Speed for my son. Haven’t seen any codes past the first quarter of 1988, but who knows? I have it pictured below. The violet handle really glistens in person, pictures don’t do it any justice online.
I think there was a Wiki article that said 1986 and that’s how that all got started.
