Gillette 1954 Z3

Hello everyone,
Appreciate all the info provided here.
I am new to DE shaving. Bought a parker 91R almost 2 months ago. I shave my head ( about twice a week) as well as, of course, my beard. All those years, I realized I was doing disservice to myself using disposables. 91R is ok, but I want to try a Gillette now. I end up on this site and signed up immediately since I am now aware of how important it is to shave properly!
Anyways!
I saw a 1954 Z3 SS selling for $20 on a site shipping included. It says in excellent condition. Reading the form, I know it is not 40s SS which is praised so much in this form. I also can go with a 49 SS on ebay auction where price can go higher. What do you guys recommend?. Should I go ahead and order 1954 Z3 or get a 1949 SS ?
Thanks

$20 for a Z3 SS is a bit high for a shaver and you will usually be better off with the BST (Buy Sell Trade) on this sight, vs eBay, until you really know the market.

"Z" is that funny year that has both the '40's syle and flair tip SuperSpeeds. I have an old style Z2 and a flair Z1. I'd prefer the '40's style, but with shipping and assuming it is in excellent condition the price is probably not crazy.

I got a nice replated 54 Super Speed from Onotoman, a member from this forum. It is not my favorite shaver though it gives ok shaves.
It is good to have an early flair tip model and is a valued razor with me. The code is Z2

I like the '54. 20 dollars is at the top of the range I'd pay for one in top condition, but if you can't find one any other way... However, their are plenty of people here who'd give one up for half that probably. Oftentimes, antique (or junk) stores have SS's lying around for 5 to 10.

I actually have two Z3's, the flair tip and the 40's style with the blue TV case. And I can tell you the TV special cost me a lot more then $20.

Well.. thanks all.. How do I get an 40s SS from here? I looked some of the antique stores in Montclair, NJ. Could not find one. If you can give me a recommendation or lead me to someone, it would be great.

The 40's SS is perhaps the most plentiful razor on ebay and the B/S/T. You should have no trouble finding one in a couple days or less.

That's really the point, it may be a '40's style, check if it is a flair tip, if not it is a '40's style.
