Getting some Jabonman!

Just wrote to Manuel to find out what he's got currently in stock, and if he had any recommendations. I recently bought some of the Lime Cinnamon (w lanolin) here on the BST. I can't believe how lucky I was. Usually, by the time I see something I want, be it a brush or soap or otherwise, it's typically long gone but I got there in time to score the soap and give it a try! Boy, and it really is terrific. What a great shave; comfortable, moisturizing, and man, does it really leave the bathroom smelling fabulous for quite some time afterwards. Anyway I'm stoked to hear what soaps he has and buy up a bunch of different ones. I wonder if he makes facial and bath soaps too, wouldn't that be great!

Dude! You need to try the Ylang Ylang, Pachuli, Naranja. Or the Lavender-Bergamot Cypress. Or the Vetiver-Tangerine-Litsea Cubeba. Or the...

Well, you know. All of them!

LOL... Tell me about it!!! I just received an e mail from Manuel re his current inventory - will post later tonight what he has available.

Well done. Jabonman is on my short list of new-to-me soaps to try. The listing of his scent range is enough to make me want to splurge with the credit card! This sort of thing is why I believe in another five years at most it will not make a particle of difference to me what the commercial "boutique" shops on the high streets of London do. Look at those scents and tell me where you buy them commercially? Add in the fact these craft makers are perfecting small batch shave soaps and it is going to be a fine time for wet shavers. Please, do report back with your lathering results.

Cheers, Todd

I truly think that it's the best soap out there. It's all I've used since the first of the year. I think I have 6 tins right now. Ylang-Ylang being the #1. Last time I asked he wasn't making bath soap but I sure hope he starts this year!!

Nope, no bath soaps offered yet. He said he makes them for himself and said they are somewhat more costly to produce than the shave soaps. One can still hope... Here's the current inventory, I think I'm going to get 4 tins; 2 with lanolin, and 2 without:

Without lanolin:

- Ylang Ylang-Patchouli-Orange ….…(Usable March 11)
- Vetiver-Tangerine-Litsea Cubeba.......(Usable February 20)

- Patchouli-Sandalwood…...............…(simple soap making, foam filling and very easy)
- Laurel-Black pepper…….............….(simple soap making, foam filling and very easy)
- Musk-Flower Tea …………........….(simple soap making, foam filling and very easy)
- Neroli-Mint-Grapefruit …....……….(simple soap making, foam filling and very easy)

Will post the the totals, and shipping cost for those interested, after I order. Boy, it's tempting to go for one of each!!

can you tell me how much you spent on the soaps. Really thinking of putting an order for some of these soaps.

Manuel recommended I drop 1 tin because the shipping for 6 tins was over a 1 kilo limit, and that would jack up the shipping cost considerably so I passed on the Laurel Black Pepper and brought the order down to 5 tins - will have to wait to try it on the next go! Price was 77 Euros including shipping - thats 105 USD so it's around 21 dollars per tin.

Thanks for the reply. Just put in an order for 4 soaps with Manuel. Can't wait to get them.

That is what was confusing to me and I decided not to order atm:

Six 100g tins (Aluminum) are over 1kg limit? So you only get 500g of soap + light aluminum tins?

I just don't get it. If one uses padded envelope, 6 aluminum tins with light package material should be less then 800 grams. So somewhere between 7-8 tins should fit in there, depending on how big the included samples are. 7 or 8, not only 5. I wanted to order 7 or 8, but refused to order only 5 in 1kg category. Just my 2 cents.

chrom15, When shipping to the States, my four tins were packed in a box which included 6 samples of soap. The box, tins and samples may very well put tezza's order over the 1kg mark, and Overseas Shipping isn't always inexpensive. The main point is Manuel was considerate enough to allow him to reduce his order for cheaper shipping, instead of just fulfilling it and bludgeoning him with additional shipping costs.

Hey Riff, how strong is the lavender scent in the Lavanda-Ciprés-Bergamota? I was very tempted to get it but I'm not a huge lavender fan and I was afraid the lavender might be too much for me.

Tezza, you can tell that it is lavender, but the Bergamot and the Cypress is very evident. The lavendar smell is not as strong as a straight lavender cream or soap. I don't know if that helps or not. If you buy it and don't like it, you can put it on BST and it will go fast. Almost as fast as MdC.
