Full Fat Boy Disassembly

Hey all,

Well despite my intial adverse reaction to taking apart razors, I seem to really enjoy doing it now!

Following the guide here I completely took my Fat Boy apart!

It took a bit of work, but I'm VERY pleased that I did it and now I can do a proper cleaning. It actually was pretty good in there, but there are a couple of spots that I can clean thoroughly that I couldn't get at before.

Omg, there are so many piece!! Makes the 3-piece tech look so easy.

Anyways, just wanted to share that. Here's a picture of all the individual pieces. I'm couldn't be happier.

From full disassembly, cleaning every piece individually, then assembly, probably about 2 hours. I wasn't rushing, and checked that tutorial frequently to make sure I was on track.

those puppys are easy to lose, without one a fatboy is just not right

I don't know if you're joking or not....but I assure you that every piece that I took off the razor is back in it now.

Alrighty. I'm gonna use it tonight and it'll be nice using it knowing it's clean inside and out!

Well I took my newly assembled Fat Boy for a test drive. Yup, it works perfectly!!! Loaded up a new Feather blade and got a great shave with no cuts or irritation.

did you check the exact gap measurements too?

I don't have any equipment to measure exact distances, but I tried my best to do so with my eye. There was a part that looked just a bit lower, so I gave it a few light taps with a hammer with a soft piece of wood against the metal to cushion and spread out the blow. I don't even know if it moved at all, but it looks fine now. It's so hard to tell by eye exactly, but it looks perfectly fine and even. There might be the SLIGHTEST difference in gap from left to right, but nothing that can be seen by eye or felt at all during the shave. Besides, even if there was a SLIGHT (like fraction of a fraction of a mm) difference, it wouldn't matter since I bought this to shave with and not to collect. But that said, it's a sweet shave.
