Frederick Reynolds Straight Razor. Anyone know how old?

I picked up this straight razor at the local flea market. It has a stamp on the blade that says "Frederick Reynolds Sheffield". Does anyone know how old it is? I found one spot on ebay that had a similar blade and he was saying it was from the 1860s. I've seen a lot of other blades on the internet that say "manufactured by Frederick Reynolds" and they claim to be from the 1880s-1890s on the ones I've seen. Does anyone know what the scales are made from? How do I tell what type of razor it is (i.e. wedge, half wedge, etc.)? The guy I bought it from said tortoise or celluloid, but he didn't know for sure. Also, do you think I could clean it up/hone it to shave with it? I found a place to send it in, but the guy needs to know what type of blade it is "whippeddog.com" before I send it. I paid $20 for it, I hope I got a good deal. It seemed like a solid piece of steel when I was holding it.

Thanks for looking and thanks for the help.

1850's to 1890's most likely.

Scales are horn dyed to look like tortoise.

It's got some wear, but it'll run just fine. Clean it up, hone it or have it honed, and enjoy the shaves from it. FR's are great shavers.

Tang stamp on yours is a bit different than all 6 of mine including the two posted above.
