Found a Flare Tip SS and a. Ball End Old Type?

Went back to an antique mall that I stopped at last weekend and came home with a couple more DEs that I had seen the weekend before. I found a very dirty Flare Tip SS (D1) and what I think is a Ball End Old Type. Can anyone confirm the Old Type? Any ideas on year? There isn't a serial number on it.

Nice find! The flare tip looks to be a TV flare. With no date code on the old type, if would date anywhere from 1921-1928. Congrats!

I was just looking at an old thread on Super Speed identification and realized that it is a TV Super Speed! That makes my day feel a bit more productive! Hopefully it will clean up well, because it's in pretty rough shape now.

Sadly the TV Special has seen better days, and they were a LOOOONG time ago. Besides being filthy, it's got a ton of plate loss, even in the knurling on the handle.

I think the TV had some rhodium on it.

You could get it replated, i know krona kruiser on here does nickel, or dave at restoredrazors does nickel, rhodium etc.. would bring some life back into it :)

That had crossed my mind... After I realized how much plate loss there was, I hit it with some CLR in an attempt to get the gunk off. That helped to show just how much plate loss there was. The underside of the head has some outright corrosion, is this something that can be buffed out prior to replating?

The English Tv Rocket had rhodium in it.
