Hi,
I had a rotator cuff tear (med to large) and numbness in all of my fingers and forearm. I had the surgery to repair the damage and for several weeks was on 4 oxycodon a day, plus 8 percocet, and 800 milligrams of motrin every 4 hours. My wife who is an Endodontist could not believe I was not knocked out from the drugs, it merely dulled the pain a bit. Lord only knows what it would have been like without drugs, I would have had to drink several bottles of wine a day
So as you might guess I had no use of my right (dominate) hand and arm. I did not trust shaving with a feather left handed and with a rather large dose opioid in my system. So I was reduced to the canned stuff and a Mach something or the other for weeks. I even tried an electric razor :-(
I am now lifting 1 lb of weight with my right arm and I still have numbness in my thumb, forefinger, and middle finger. BUT I am back to using my DE, some really nice creams, and my trusted feather blades.
I was hooked on good brushes, creams, and blades and was forced to step back to my old ways, and I have to say I truly appreciate getting back to my DE! Warm lather with a wonderful aroma, having the ability to unscrew a cap to use after shave, and carefully using a slant or other Mercur to get a really good shave. Back to some of the simple pleasures of life. You don't realize what you will miss until you have to cut something out.
