I am curious as to what leads one to do so. one of my favorite things about Wetshaving is the aftershave. I love the many scents although many don't last long. I guess I am just assuming you wouldn't apply a scented AS before bed. Perhaps I'm off base. I just enjoy the fresh clean feeling of a close shave in the am and the AS part of it. Thoughts on the evening shave?

Funny you mention this. I was talking to another poster about this very topic. I shave at night most of the time and I do apply AS as well. It helps soothe my skin before I go to bed and sometimes lasts until the next day. I do have an ASAD, so YMMV.

By all means apply a scented AS at night. It is nice to roll over in the middle of the night and catch a whiff of it on the pillow and gently drift back off to sleep. Even nicer is picking an AS that SWMBO loves, you may enjoy getting into bed if you catch my drift!

I just don't want to wake up early... I also shave after I shower and I usually like to wash off the day, instead of sleeping in it and washing in the morning.
I like knowing that I will have a clean shave when I wake up and all through the day. I also enjoy saving some time in the morning and it's very relaxing at night. I enjoy both morning and evening shaves.
Probably the main reason is that I share the bathroom with my wife and I'd have to wake up much earlier to fit in a shave. I wouldn't want to spend my shave rushing to free up the bathroom so my wife can shower.
Basically what everybody said. Mainly for time purposes inn the morning one thing I don't like is rushing my shave. I use AS at night and some times, I go for that extra splash in the morning to get the feeling of freshness again!
Agree with everyone, especially the part about not rushing in the morning.

Not rushing in the morning, and at night, I leave the shower to join my wife. I prefer to smell nice for her, rather than the people at work.
I love shaving at night and do so for reasons already mentioned. It's a nice way to wind down from the day without being rushed. And I do apply aftershave then- and also sometimes during the day.
Nothing like sliding under the sheets with a fresh shower, a BBS and the scent of Clubman P. to lull me to sleep. That's how I roll...
I do not shave at night very often but I use Krampert's Frosbite and Osage Rub as a pick me up at odd times of the day.
Mitchell's Wool Fat+Nivea Aftershave Balm=BBS and a slight unique masculine scent that I find women frequently notice and comment on when I go out at night. Amazingly enough Old Spice deodorant applied conservatively is what most women notice when they say I smell great.
I shave nightly and I do apply AS. My wife told me a long time ago when I started shaving before bed that when I go to work she swaps pillows and the scent of my aftershave helps her fall back to sleep very quickly. I should also note I leave for work around 330-4 in the morning.

I've shaved at night, for many of the reasons expressed so well by others. but I much prefer the A.M. shaves... for me
going to work with a shave already 8+ hours old, just didn't cut it, so to speak! Especially when there was a two hour
commute to contend with!
But for me nothing beat the psychological edge it gave me to face the day totally energized, showered , freshly
shaved and raring to go...well almost always raring to go! For me that justified getting up 30-45 minutes earlier!
But as I have posted elsewhere when Morpheus triumphed, I could still shower on rising and grab a str8 barber shave
in a NY City subway barbershop before arriving at the office!
Just another case of YMMV and an interesting topic.

For me, here is why:
1. Relaxing after a long day - I enjoy hot showers at the end of a hard working day. The steam and hot water really help prep the beard.
2. Save time in the morning if I sleep late and I'm in a rush - Extra 30 minutes of sleep? Yes Please!
3. Smell good when I sleep - Not to mention, the scents of various aftershaves reel the SWMBO in. This may be a negative depending on your relationship
4. Something to do when I get home - Shaving time is "me" time
I completely agree and added my own comments in bold.
